Is an ISA right for me?
ISAs offer a great, tax-free way to save. You can save up to £20,000 into ISAs each tax year* and any interest or investment income you earn isn’t taxed.
Our cash ISAs might be for you if:
- You haven't used all your annual ISA allowance in the current tax year
- You're looking for flexibility or long-term assurance.
Choose from our range of cash ISA products, based on whether you want the peace of mind of a fixed rate or access to your money.
*This is correct for the 2026/27 tax year.
What is my annual ISA allowance?
The annual ISA allowance is the amount you can pay into ISAs each tax year.
This tax year (2026/27), you can save or invest up to £20,000 tax-free*. You can do this across different types of ISAs and with multiple banks, building societies or other financial institutions. While we specialise in cash ISAs, you might see that other providers have stocks and shares, Lifetime and innovative finance ISAs available.
If you don’t use your full allowance in a tax year, any remaining allowance won’t roll over. However, the good news is your allowance will reset every 6 April when the next tax year begins.
*From April 2027 allowances are changing find out more by reading our Autumn Budget breakdown.
How does the tax-free benefit to ISAs work?
Depending on which tax band you're in and how much interest you earn, you could be paying tax on that interest. However, saving money in an ISA is always tax-free regardless of your earnings.
You can learn more about your Personal Savings Allowance to understand how this can affect you.
What is an ISA transfer?
This is when your money is moved from one ISA product to another and keeps its tax-free benefit. Transfers work by picking up your ISA savings and putting them into a new ISA account.
Before you do a transfer, you should find a new ISA you’d like to transfer to. You can then contact your new ISA provider and they’ll start the process. Please remember, you can’t complete an ISA transfer yourself*.
To find out how to do this, view our guide.
*If you withraw the money yourself, and deposit it in a different ISA it will lose it's tax-free benefit and count as a deposit toward your current year's ISA allowance.
Are cash ISA savings accounts safe?
Like our other savings accounts, our cash ISA savings accounts are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). The FSCS will protect up to £120,000 of any eligible deposits you have with us.
If the amount you have saved goes over this limit, the extra amount is unlikely to be protected.
