Diversity and inclusion

We're serious about equality for all

One of our shared goals is to create an inclusive and inspiring workplace, fully representative of our membership and communities we serve. Here are just a few of the things we're doing to show our commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

Proud Together

Our Group LGBTQIA+ colleague network, Proud Together, has close to 200 members and is supported by a committee of both those in the community and allies. Their purpose is to celebrate and educate, committed to making Coventry Building Society Group an inclusive and safe space for all. Within this network there is also a Trans and Non-binary group, supporting and raising awareness of trans and non-binary people.

We’re committed to LGBTQIA+ inclusion all year round.

A rainbow flag was toured around the whole of the society, including over 60 branches up and down the country, garnishing over 800 signatures from colleagues. The flag was marched proudly overhead at Warwickshire Pride, of which the network were Gold sponsors.

In 2023, members of the network attended an event on trust and inclusion with our top leaders. The panel Q&A discussed the topic of allyship and how our leaders can be allies to our networks.

This year will see the introduction of our Transgender & Non-binary policy, supporting our colleagues who are part of this community, and giving advice on how to provide their support and improve understanding.

Pride Month

In 2024, as part of our Pride celebrations, a rainbow flag was toured around the whole of the Society, including over 60 branches up and down the country, signed by over 800 colleagues and displayed at Warwickshire Pride. This year we’ll be supporting Warwickshire Pride again. Come and visit us in our chillout zone in the bandstand to find out more about our Proud Together colleague network and why we are a great place to work. We’re also proud to be hosting the Warwickshire Pride dog show.

Since welcoming The Co-operative Bank to the Group, we're incredibly proud to be part of several Pride festivals throughout the UK this summer. Especially the new Manchester Village Pride, held in the Bank's hometown, where they've sponsored Pride since 2016.
