Over 100 members of staff volunteered 

We held CV writing workshops, and showed them how important it is to check their work. And then check it again. We told them what our HR department often tell us: that the best person for the job could well be in the ‘no’ pile just because they hadn’t spell-checked their CV.

We held mock interviews and gave them feedback. We encouraged them to research the company they’re applying to, and back up what they say at interviews with real examples.

Mark Parsons, our CEO, spoke to the students about what it’s like to be the boss of the third largest building society in the UK.

And we ran networking sessions where students were encouraged to mix and mingle with our staff.

We watched them increase in confidence as they started to join in, speak up and present themselves in the best way they can. 

Our Student of the Year 2016 was Londina from Stoke Park School. She landed herself a week’s paid work experience with us and the runners-up spent a day shadowing one of our Executive Directors. 

86% of students on the programme said they felt their chances of employment had increased.
