We take the amount off your balance on the date you request or, if this is a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday, on the Business Banking Day after your instruction

Up to 8pm on the Business Banking Day before we’re due to make the payment

Direct Debit 

When we must receive your instruction

N/A – you instruct the organisation you want to pay and they make the request.


When transaction takes place/ money available
    

We take the amount off your balance on the date you agreed with the organisation, or on the next Business Banking Day


When you can cancel a payment

Up to 8pm on the Business Banking Day before we’re due to make the payment. We recommend you also contact the organisation you’re paying.

Our withdrawal limits

These are our current limits, but check the Specific Terms of your account to make sure they apply to your account:

Cash over the counter at any Coventry branch
Maximum £500 per day, per account, without notice
With 48 hours’ notice, the maximum is £4,000 per day, per person
Additional ID will be required. 

At a cash machine
Maximum £500 per day (in no more than 5 withdrawals per day)
At a Coventry cash machine, the minimum withdrawal is £10.

Cash over the counter at an agency
Maximum £500 per customer, per day

Cheque in a branch 
No limit

Cheque in an agency
The maximum cheque limit over the counter in an agency is £15,000. Please contact your local agency for more information on your options.

Online Services
Maximum £50,000 per transaction to a named bank account
Maximum £20,000 per transaction to an account with another bank or building society
Maximum £20,000 per transaction to another account held with the Coventry.

Our app
Maximum £50,000 per transaction to a named bank account in your name
Maximum £20,000 per transaction to another account held in your name with us.

How do I give notice to make a withdrawal or close my account without being charged?

Depending on your account, you can give notice through Online Services, or tell us in a branch. You can also call us on 0800 121 8899 or write to us at:

It's important that you write the address exactly like this, in capital letters, all on one line. You don't need a stamp. Royal Mail delivers Freepost as Second Class mail.

Remember to include your account number and signature on your letter.

Who do I make my deposit cheque out to?

Make the cheque out to the account holder, and write the account number next to the name. 

Then take it into a branch, or post it to:
