What are we doing?

As well as background systems and monitoring processes to help keep your money safe and secure you will see the following security arrangements when you use our Online Services.

Last login date and login image

Each time you enter your Security Details to login we will display the date and time you last logged in together with your chosen image. Check these are correct and if they are not do not enter your passwords or any other information and contact us immediately.

Automatic time-out

We will automatically log you out of our Online Services if we have not detected any activity for 10 minutes as we will assume you have left your computer unattended. It is always good practice to log-out of our Online Services when you have finished your transactions.

Temporary blocking of access

We will block all access to your account(s) online and on the telephone if your Security Details, including your personal details are provided incorrectly three consecutive times, either on the website or on the telephone.

If your access is blocked we will automatically contact you by post to set up new Security Details.

Secure technology

We only ever use secure pages for our Online Services and any other pages on our site that ask you to enter your personal details. We do this by using a technology call SSL Secure Socket Layers. This enables us to encrypt any information you type in so that it cannot be tampered with as it is sent through to us.

You can tell if you're on a secure page as the page name will begin with HTTPS (the S stands for secure). A yellow padlock will also appear at the bottom right of your screen.

To be completely re-assured that you are on a secure page you should really check the site's security certificate. You can do this by clicking on the yellow padlock symbol. A pop up window will open detailing who owns the security certificate, the expiry date and the issuer.

If you look at our security certificate you can see that it is issued to us - www.coventrybuildingsociety.co.uk by Verisign. You can also see the issue and expiry dates.
