This year marks 14 years of Coventry Building Society supporting the Royal British Legion as our charity partner. Over the years we’ve raised more than 19 million pounds through a combination of donations based on the balances saved in our Poppy products and a wide range of fundraising from hundreds of colleagues. Our people have also participated in many different fundraisers helping to raise over £368,000 to date. Alongside this, they have given over 4500 volunteering hours from helping to collect donations for poppies, to planting memory crosses in gardens of Remembrance.
It’s also a special year for the Royal British Legion, as it marks their 100 year anniversary. That’s 100 years of supporting our serving and ex-serving personnel and their families, and 100 years of the poppy being worn as a poignant act of Remembrance for those who have served to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life.
To honour this anniversary, we’re running a campaign with the title ‘All together, we’ll never forget’. It’s about recognising all the people who have played a part over the past 100 years in honouring the memory of the fallen.
At Coventry Building Society, we recognise that all the things we do add up to something special. And this is exactly the message that we want to share this Remembrance Day. That all of the people who have stood in the streets, donated money or time, pinned a poppy or shared stories with the next generation over the past 100 years have all made sure that we remember those who served to protect us. All these people and their acts of Remembrance have added up to something important – all together, we’ll never forget.
