TLC in the community, Staff in the community
The commitment of our staff is key to our support for local communities. Much of the work we do in this area is down to volunteers from our workforce. Here are just some examples of how we support our staff:
School governors
We encourage our staff to take an active role within our local schools - one way in which they could do this is to become a school governor. There they can help the head teacher and senior management team to ensure pupils receive a good education.
We know that many welcome new governors who have transferable skills developed at work, or who have a particularly good understanding of the community served by the school. Becoming a governor is a good way of contributing to our local schools and helping our staff to learn new skills.
We'll match staff sponsorship
If a member of staff participates in a sponsored event to raise money for a cause or charity, the Society matches what they raise up to £250.
Community grants
Staff members who are involved with a community based group - such as a local charity, school, children's sport club, old person's home, or a scout group are able to apply to the Society for a grant of up to £250 to help support the group.
