Treasury

Treasury is responsible for managing the cashflows of the Society.

Funding

The majority of Society funding is from savings.

Wholesale funding is raised via the International Money Markets and maturities vary from overnight to five years.

Types of instrument:

Short term - Time Deposits
  Certificates of Deposit (CD)
  Euro Commercial Paper (ECP)

Long term -

Euro Medium Term Notes (EMTN)

Liquidity

Liquidity is the investment of surplus funds. Short dated liquidity maturities vary from overnight to one year.

Types of assets held:

Short term - Cash Deposits
  Certificates of Deposit

Long term -

Gilts
  Floating Rate Notes
  Mortgage Backed Securities

Credit ratings

The Society has the following credit ratings:

Moodys A3/P2
Fitch A/F1

Investing with us

The minimum amount that can be placed with Treasury is £1 million. Funds can be invested from overnight out to five years. Each deal is fixed until maturity.

Below are examples of the types of counterparties who can invest money with Treasury.

  • Local authorities
  • Registered charities
  • Housing authorities
  • Financial institutions
  • Fund managers

Treasury cannot accept money from individuals. If individual customers wish to open a savings account with Coventry Building Society, please contact your local branch, our Customer Service Centre, or apply online.
