Stroud & Swindon Building Society members vote in favour of merger with Coventry Building Society.

At a Special General Meeting held on the evening of 16th June, it was confirmed that Stroud & Swindon members have voted in favour of merging with Coventry Building Society.

The resolutions were passed by 88.8% of savers and 89.5% of borrowers with over 34,431 members voting in total.

The result was welcomed by the boards of both societies who believe that it is in the interest of the combined membership.

With final approval from the Financial Services Authority expected in August, the merger is planned to take place on 1st September 2010.
