ISAs are a tax-free savings scheme initiated by the Government. They can be made up of an investment in cash, called a cash ISA, or investments in stocks and shares – a stocks and shares ISA.

Current 2010/2011 ISA investment limits

From the 6th April 2010 the Government limit for annual investments in ISAs increased to £10,200. Of this £10,200 you can invest up to £5,100 in a cash ISA and the remainder in a stocks and shares ISA with another provider. Alternatively you can invest the whole of your £10,200 ISA allowance in a stocks and shares ISA with a single provider.
