Why do I need Card Protection?
For many of us our busy lives revolve around our plastic cards – credit cards, debit cards, store cards - and losing your handbag, purse, wallet and/or briefcase can be not only costly, but an upsetting and frustrating experience. Unfortunately, it happens to thousands of people every year.
At the Coventry we understand that if this happens to you, you'll want to ensure that your cards are replaced quickly and easily. And so we've joined forces with Sentinel®, one of the UK's main providers of card protection, to make sure you receive comprehensive cover. You can cover all your credit and debit cards, cheque guarantee cards, store cards and other similar payment cards against loss or theft.
And Coventry Card Protection covers the policyholder and household members who permanently reside at the UK home address.

What's covered and how it works*
Card Protection is more than just a service to cancel lost or stolen cards, it gives you peace of mind around the clock, and around the world. You even get the first 30 days cover provided free of charge.
- Protection
You can cancel your lost or stolen cards 24 hours a day, every day of the year by just one phone call. Sentinel will request replacement cards on your behalf.
- Protection against fraud
You're covered against the fraudulent use of your lost or stolen cards. The policy covers up to £1,500 for any losses that happen before you report your cards missing to Sentinel and £75,000 for any losses that happen after you report your cards missing.
- Protecting your personal money and possessions
If you lose your money and cards, you can claim up to £200 to replace your missing cash in any 12 month period. Your policy covers personal money lost or stolen with your registered cards whilst travelling outside the UK. The policy also covers you up to £100 to replace the missing handbag, purse, wallet and/or briefcase that your cards were in provided you report it missing at the same time as reporting the incident.
- Key and luggage tags
The policy provides free key and luggage tags with a unique reference number so if you lose your luggage or keys, they can be returned to you promptly.
- Changing your address
If you change your address, Sentinel can advise all your registered card companies of your new details.
- Communication costs
Up to £100 to cover any costs incurred when notifying Sentinel® of your loss or theft while travelling abroad limited to one claim in a 12 month period.

What's not included in your cover
- Losses incurred if the incident is not reported within 24 hours of discovery.
- Use of the registered card in a way not authorised by the card issuer.
- More than £1,000,000 per policy in total in any 12 month period against unauthorised or fraudulent use of a registered card.
- Loss due to fraudulent use by the cardholder, including keeping your PIN with your card or revealing it to anyone.
How long am I insured for?
Card Protection runs for one year from the date you take out the policy. It is automatically renewed each year until you cancel the insurance. So you'll never have to worry again, your cards will always be covered and you won't have to remember to renew your cover.

If you are abroad when you lose your card(s) simply call the international operator and reverse the charges on +44 (0) 239 265 2222. In countries where it is not possible to reverse the charges, your communication costs are covered as part of your policy, see terms and conditions for details.
