What is Investors in People?
- The Investors in People (IIP) standard was developed in 1990 by a partnership of leading businesses and national organisations. It helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the management and development of their people. Since it was developed the Standard has been reviewed frequently to ensure that it remains relevant, accessible and attractive to all. The most recent review has resulted in the development of the IIP profile, which builds on the IIP standard to help organisations strive to achieve an even higher level of best practice.
- One of the benefits of the IIP standard is that it provides a flexible framework, which any organisation can adapt for its own requirements. It mirrors the business planning cycle (plan, do, review) making it clear for organisations to follow and implement in their own planning cycle.
- The Coventry first achieved IIP recognition in August 1997. We were then successfully reassessed against the standard in June 1999, November 2000 and December 2002. The most recent assessment took place in December 2005 against the new profile, where we exceeded the IIP standard and achieved some good levels against the profile measure.
What does this really mean for employees?
- All organisations need to keep their customers happy. At the Coventry, this means putting our Members First in everything we do. To do this, we want all staff to do their job in the best way possible producing quality work and giving quality service.
- Investors in People recognises that organisations use different means to achieve success through their people. It does not prescribe any one method but provides a framework to help us find the most suitable means for achieving success through our people.
So, as an employee at the Coventry an IIP organisation you will see the following benefits:
- Effective training and development
